Itâs no secret that the Love Island producers are slowly selecting more and more loved ones of famous people to appear on the show.
This year itâs been ex-Premier League footballer Michael Owenâs daughter Gemma, while Tyson Furyâs brother Tommy has previously been on it. But it turns out another footballerâs kid couldâve been on it too â Danny Murphyâs.
The former Liverpool star joined talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein on Drive on Tuesday, and, just like everyone in the country seem to be, the pair began to discuss Love Island.
Of course, Murphy has a reason â or so he says â to watch the hit show, and thatâs to watch his former England and Liverpool teammateâs daughter, Gemma.
âI havenât watched one for about four or five years, and then of course, Michaelâs daughter is in it,â Murphy said on Drivetime.
âAnd I know Michael, I remember Gemma being born, actually.â
All eyes have been on Owen since Gemma went into the villa, with the former striker admitting seeing his daughter on the show is âa fatherâs worst nightmare.â
Heâs been a good sport during the show though, posting some hilarious responses to clips of his daughter that he will have found pretty uncomfortable to watch.
And Goldstein soon asked Murphy if he would be happy if his daughters did the same thing and went on the show when they were older.
But it turns out he actually came close to being in the same position as Owen.
âWell, funnily enough my eldest son whoâs 25 now, he got down to the last 25 when he was about 19,â Murphy admitted.
âI was praying he didnât get on. Thank God he didnât!â
