Sterling agrees terms with Chelsea as Blues close in on signing of Man City star

Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, talkSPORT understands.

Sterling has agreed contract terms with Chelsea, who are now in the final stages of negotiating a transfer package with City worth £55m including add-ons.

Sterling is has been the subject of intense speculation due to the fact that the 27-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

A top transfer target for the Blues, Sterling has already held talks with head coach Thomas Tuchel about the move and is excited at the prospect of moving to Stamford Bridge.

Having joined Man City from Liverpool for an initial fee of £44million in 2015, Sterling has gone on to establish himself as a key player for the Premier League champions.

In seven years at the club, the forward has scored 131 goals in 339 appearances.

Howeve,r with the signings of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer, as well as Jack Grealish last term has seen Sterling’s hopes of nailing down a regular starting spot dwindle.

While the Blues have been linked with sensational moves for Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar this summer, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy believes that a move for Sterling is more sensible.

Discussing potential signings, the talkSPORT host said: “I actually think that, I’ve said this many many times, I think Neymar is overrated. I’m not saying he’s a bad player, I think he’s overrated, that’s my own take on that, I’m not so sure he’d fit in at Chelsea.

“Ronaldo, there’s a part of me that’s a little bit concerned that it’s not going to be a Thomas Tuchel signing, it feels a little bit like a Todd Boehly one where he’s come in with the money and he’s getting seduced by one of the world’s greatest ever players and he’s available.

“And then there’s Sterling, which for me makes so much sense, I don’t quite know what he’s going to cost but it feels and sounds like it’s going to be a decent deal.”
