England Women have contacted Nike with feedback on the impracticality of wearing white shorts when some players are on their periods.
The Lionesses got their European Championship campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Austria at Old Trafford, with Beth Mead scoring the winning goal for Sarina Wiegman’s side.
For the contest, England wore an all-white kid which included the use of white shorts.
The Lionesses have not always been made to play in white shorts, with previous squads wearing dark blue shorts with their traditional white top.
Female athletes wearing all-white has been a big talking point within the sporting world with tennis stars questioning the All England Club’s rule of wearing all-white during appearances at Wimbledon.
Mead was on media duty after the match and the Arsenal forward revealed that conversations had taken place with the Three Lions’ kit manufacturer about amending the colour of the shorts.
The 27-year-old explained: “That is something we have fed to Nike.
“I think hopefully they are going to change that.
“It is very nice to have an all-white kit but sometimes it’s not practical when it’s the time of the month.
“We have discussed it as a team and we have fed that back to Nike.”
Those comments were backed up by team-mate Georgia Stanway, who said: “I think next year there is potentially (going to be) a colour change.
“It’s hard because once you’re on the grass nothing else matters.”
