Man United transfer news: Eriksen agrees move, club close to Martinez signing

This summer could be the most important one for Manchester United in a long, long time.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford should see the playing squad change massively with a number of incomings and outgoings expected.

United have seen six first-team players leave after the end of their contracts, including Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

However, many more in the current squad could find themselves pushed out of the exit door as well to make way for new players.

Tyrell Malacia has been confirmed as their first signing, but there should be a lot more.

Well, talkSPORT.com decided to take a look at the biggest Manchester United transfer rumours…

Antony

Red Devils manager Ten Hag is on course to sign one of his former Ajax players, Antony, talkSPORT understands.

But Antony could also be set for a reunion with his old boss at Old Trafford, with a move close.

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook said: “I think United are definitely in for Antony.

“His numbers for much of the season were decent, I think he missed the end of the campaign injured but he’s obviously someone that Erik ten Hag knows well.

“There’s been talk of a £40million bid going in for him, certainly my sources haven’t distanced themselves from those rumours so I think Antony is a target.

“In fact I’ve had a text from somebody else saying if he doesn’t become a Manchester United player this summer I would be surprised.”

Christian Eriksen

The Red Devils look set to make the former Tottenham man their second summer signing after the player agreed a three-year deal.

The 30-year-old held talks with several top-flight clubs, but it came down to Brentford and Manchester United.

And after talks with Erik ten Hag, Eriksen has committed his future to Old Trafford.

Eriksen impressed for the Bees in the second half of last season, and it appears as if it was a tough decision, but the Red Devils have won the battle, and the Dane will be part of Ten Hag’s squad this season.

Lisandro Martinez

talkSPORT sources understand that the Red Devils are confident of signing the Ajax defender.

Manchester United have offered £42m, including add-ons, for the Argentine, who is keen to be reunited with his former manager.

The club are confident of getting the deal wrapped up quickly before Arsenal can match their offer.

The Gunners have already had one bid for Martinez turned down this summer and could return with another.

However, as it stands, Man United are in pole position for the 24-year-old.

Frenkie de Jong

This has been one of the longest sagas of the transfer window, and despite it appearing close to happening last week, some new information has emerged, which plunges the deal into doubt.

The midfielder is owed £17m in deferred salary payments, which has held up the deal.

However, Chelsea have now also emerged as contenders for De Jong after Todd Boehly met Barca in Spain last week.

And the player’s agent has now arrived in London to hold talks with the Blues as Thomas Tuchel’s side look to beat Man United to De Jong’s signature.

Daniel Bachmann

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed that the Red Devils will have to pay a transfer fee for the Watford goalkeeper.

The Austrian asked to leave Vicarage Road on a free, so he could complete a move to Old Trafford, but that was rejected.

Bachmann is desperate to join Ten Hag’s side and talkSPORT understands he asked to tear up his contract.

However, an offer of £3m will be enough for the Red Devils to get their man.
